EXP'EAU – Underwater Ecomuseum – La Grande Motte (34)
The EXP'EAU project is an experimental project for the operational implementation of an Underwater Ecomuseum in the commune of La Grande Motte (Hérault, France).
This Underwater Ecomuseum aims to improve the ecological functions of the shallow coastal waters ( connectivity, nurseries, habitats... ), while enhancing the cultural and environmental heritage of the area through an arrangement of biomimetic modules and artistic underwater statues that can be explored by scuba diving and/or snorkeling/PMT (discovery diving). This specific arrangement allowing to answer the objectives wished by the Owner is the subject of a technical and financial feasibility study carried out by LINEUP OCEAN.
Initially, the site will only be used by local diving clubs who will participate in the integrated management of the Ecomuseum. Customized marking will be put in place to ensure the safety and supervision of the site's users, who will be permanently accompanied by state-qualified instructors.
Technical, ecological and socio-economic monitoring will provide key indicators for the qualitative follow-up of the project and potentially allow its large-scale deployment at the end of the experiment.
The purpose of the experimental project EXP'EAU, beyond its environmental, social and technological interest, is to serve as a reference ecotourism device that can be replicated and adapted to a large number of coastal cities along the coast, through a unique artistic concept in France.
